ALCOHOL BLENDING TECHNIQUE Funday Monday #43

I've been wanting to share this technique for a while with you all. This is such a fun a fun way to use our Stampin' Blends for something different from just coloring. Be sure to use the higher percentage of alcohol like in the 90's. I will be showing you a couple different way to do this, one with acetate and the other with vellum. The color combo's can be so much fun and really beautiful and some not so much, so have fun mixing and playing with colors I would love for you to post pictures of the projects you make using this technique over on

Pink Barn Stampers Group

So the first technique is using a sheet of acetate or window sheet. we are going color straight on the acetate and add the alcohol to the acetate, then lay our cardstock on acetate. Here are a couple cards using this technique.

  • Acetate or Window Sheet
  • Basic White: 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" you will cut this down to 5" x 3-3/4"
  • Thick Basic White cardbase: 5-1-2" x 8-1/2" score @ 4-1/4"
  • Magenta Madness layer: 5-1/4" x 4"
  • Dark Magenta Madness & Dark Misty Moonlight Stampin Blends
  • Other Supplies: Brilliant Wings Dies, Gold Foil Sheet, Layering Circles Dies, Gilded Gems, Magenta Madness Ink Pad, Water Painter

So this next one is still using acetate, but I've added alcohol drop right to the cardstock to create a different look.

  • Acetate or Window Sheet
  • Basic White: 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" you will cut this down to 5" x 3-3/4"
  • Thick Basic White cardbase: 5-1-2" x 8-1/2" score @ 4-1/4"
  • Night of Navy layer: 5-1/4" x 4"
  • Dark Soft Suede, Dark Night of Navy, Dark Old Olive
  • Other Supplies: Sailing Home Stamp & Smooth Sailing Die set, Night of Navy Ink Pad, Scrap of Soft Suede for die cut, Memento Ink Pad, water Painter

  • Now to show you the Vellum technique, you will color straight on vellum and add the alcohol to create the look. It will give you more defined lines from the colors drying, I add Gold Leafing (154560) to some of these lines to add some bling.

    • Pale Papaya cardbase: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" score @ 4-1/4"
    • Basic White 5-1/4" x 4" & 3" x 4" for scallop die
    • Vellum: 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" this will get cut down to 5-1/4" x 4"
    • Dark Pale Papaya & Dark Polished Pink Stampin Blends
    • Other Supplies: Color & Contour Bundle, Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon, Polished Pink Ink Pad, Memento Ink Pad, Gilded Leafing, Water Painter
Here's a couple more just for fun!!

It means including others, even when we disagree, have contrasting life experiences, or simply see things differently.
